Lina Privacy Policy
Lina keeps your health information on your iPhone, sends only what an AI feature needs to work, and never sells your data or uses it for ads.
Effective date: October 13, 2026
This policy covers the Lina: Health & Wellness app for iPhone and Apple Watch ("Lina"), published by Nadia Susanto, an independent developer ("I" or "we"). Questions: hi@uselina.app.
What Lina collects, and where it lives
| What | Examples | Where it's stored | Sent off your phone? |
|---|---|---|---|
| Your account | Name and an account ID from Sign in with Apple or Google (Apple may share a private relay email) | Your iPhone | No |
| Things you log | Meals, water, vitamins, gut entries, weight, sleep times, feelings, good things, prayer or quiet moments | Your iPhone (and Apple Watch) | Only when you use an AI feature, as below |
| Journal entries | What you write, say or photograph from a notebook | Your iPhone | Only when Lina organizes an entry for you |
| Photos | Meals, labels, barcodes, receipts, your fridge or pantry | Your iPhone | Yes, when you ask Lina to read them |
| Voice | What you say to Lina | Turned into text on your device (or by Apple's dictation); recordings are deleted after | Only the text, when an AI feature uses it |
| Apple Health | Workouts, steps, sleep, weight, resting heart rate, heart rate variability, mindful minutes, and height, age and sex for your targets | Your iPhone and Apple Health | Only daily totals (for example "7 h sleep, 32 min walk"), and only after you allow AI features |
| Messages to Nadia | What you write in Chat with Nadia, your first name and goals, and your phone model and app version | Our database (Supabase), for up to a year after your last message | Yes, to our server and database; Nadia gets a notification on her iPhone and an email at hi@uselina.app. Never sent to the AI |
| Location | Where you are, when you tap Places near me | Used on your phone for one search, not stored | No. Lina only sees the names of nearby places |
| Purchases | Your Lina Plus subscription status | Apple | Apple handles payment; we see whether Plus is active, never your card |
| App usage | Which features you use (for example "logged a meal by photo", "opened Notebook"), with a random ID for this install. Never what you ate, wrote or said, and no Health numbers | PostHog (US) | Yes, without your name. Turn it off in You › Share usage stats |
| App diagnostics | A random device ID, request counts for daily limits, crash reports Apple shares if you allow it | Our server (counts), Apple (crashes) | Yes, without your name |
How we use it
- To run the app: show your day, your rings, your notebook and your patterns.
- To power AI features you choose to use: reading a meal photo or receipt, sorting what you tell Lina, organizing a journal entry, suggesting meals or what to order, and answering questions in Ask Lina.
- To send reminders you turn on (they're scheduled on your phone).
- To keep the service working and fair, for example a daily limit on AI requests.
We do not sell your information, share it with advertisers or data brokers, or use it to advertise to you.
AI features and Anthropic
Lina's AI features are powered by Claude, made by Anthropic. When you use one, our server sends Anthropic only what that feature needs, for example the meal photo and the names of foods you've saved, or the words you told Lina plus today's daily totals. Lina asks for your permission before any of this, and you can turn AI features off in the app.
Anthropic does not use what Lina sends through its API to train its models, and deletes its own copy from its systems within 30 days (your logs in Lina on your phone aren't affected), unless it must keep something longer to enforce its usage policy or the law (Anthropic: model training, Anthropic: data retention). Our server passes requests through and does not keep your photos, journal text or health data.
Apple Health
Lina reads and writes Apple Health data only with your permission, which you can change in Settings › Health. We never use Apple Health data for advertising or sell it, and we never share it with third parties except as daily totals for an AI feature you use. Lina doesn't store Apple Health data in iCloud.
Who else sees your data
- Apple, for Sign in with Apple, subscriptions, Apple Health and dictation, under Apple's privacy policy.
- Google, only if you choose Continue with Google: Google confirms who you are and shares your name and email with Lina, under Google's privacy policy.
- Anthropic, for AI features, as described above.
- Our hosting provider (Vercel) and rate-limit store (Upstash), which run our server and keep request counts.
- Supabase, which stores Chat with Nadia messages for our server.
- Apple Push Notification service, which delivers "Nadia replied" notifications (the reply's text goes through Apple).
- iCloud Mail (Apple), which delivers an email to Nadia when you send a message in Chat with Nadia (your first name and the message's text).
- PostHog, which receives anonymous app-usage events (no content, no health data, no IP address kept) so we can see which features help.
- Open Food Facts, which receives only a product's brand and name or its barcode, to find a product photo.
- Authorities, only if the law requires it.
Keeping and deleting your data
Your logs stay on your iPhone until you delete them. You › Delete account erases everything Lina stored on your iPhone, signs you out and, if you used Sign in with Apple, removes Lina's access to your Apple ID; deleting the app also removes what Lina stored on it. Data Lina saved to Apple Health stays in Health until you remove it there. You can also email hi@uselina.app to ask that anything about you be deleted. Our server keeps a daily request count for your device, which expires after about two days, and your Chat with Nadia messages, kept for up to a year after your last one. Delete account erases those messages too.
Security
Data sent between Lina and our server is encrypted (HTTPS). Your phone protects what's stored on it with your passcode and Face ID. No system is perfectly secure; tell us at hi@uselina.app if you spot a problem.
Children
Lina is for people 16 and older. We don't knowingly collect data from anyone under 16; if you believe someone younger has used Lina, contact us and we'll delete their data.
Your rights
You can see, change or delete what Lina stores at any time in the app. Depending on where you live (for example California or the EU and UK), you may also have the right to ask what we hold about you, to correct or delete it, and to object to processing. Write to hi@uselina.app and we'll reply within 30 days. We don't sell or share personal information as California law defines those terms.
Changes
If we change this policy, we'll update the date above and tell you in the app before material changes take effect.
